It’s just wonderful. So smart, stylish, and not trying too hard — I love it. You are going to scare a lot of other bloggers — in a good way — your writing, the whole style, is so crisp and sophisticated but effortless!

I love this site!!!! You are on to something. I am so sure of it. Your voice is honest, not patronizing and very informative. As the Great-Granddaughter of the late Jacobi Press founder of J. Press, I look forward to reading a blog that will hopefully elevate all those men who may not be able to rely on good breeding or a strong handshake matched by direct eye contact. They will come to see you as an arbiter of taste, style and substance. Love it! I will turn my Dad on to the site…..He will have something to say, I’m sure!
I’m an instant fan. We have often wondered “where has all the decorum gone?” So, rather than waiting for a return, we’re committed to embracing and maintaining our own innate and acquired social graces.

It’s easy to get lost in the seemingly endless world of fashion blogs these days. Despite the ubiquity of self-proclaimed gurus, however, there are a few notable authors who deserve their due recognition. Social Primer guides readers—particularly men—through proper social etiquette. The site is dedicated to “instilling civility into an uncivilized world.” From rants on proper hand-shaking to the appropriate summer wear for men, the blog offers a range of advice on how to gauge proper conduct at every social get-together. Though we’re certainly fans of all fashion blogging, we were especially excited to pick the brains of these men and their original blogging style. Be sure to check the site frequently for updates on all the discerning banter.
Bring Back Civility, Please! A New Blog To Lead The Way
I was raised by two manner-obsessed parents and while I may have resented the litany of do’s and don’ts growing up, they’ve left an indelible mark and for this I am immensely grateful (Merci Maman! Merci Papa!). Unfortunately, it sometimes seems to me that society in general has given up on civility. On the streets, on public transportation but also in stores and restaurants, it seems that manners are considered optional or worst yet, obsolete. I couldn’t disagree more! This breakdown in civility goes far beyond ‘please, ‘thank you’ and ‘pardon me’. It manifests itself in inappropriate attire in public, frequent misunderstandings on what is expected and impoverished social interactions in general. I was therefore elated when I stumbled across a new blog dedicated to the subject: SocialPrimer.com. It’s well-written, elegant and highly relevant! If you’re like me and believe manners and civility are important elements of style and elegance, you’ll love this blog too.
We should never stop learning. Or minding our manners, for that matter. If Social Primer did not exist, we would have to invent him. Fortunately, SP walks amongst us.

Yes, I agree with everything you say! There are times I feel that we are living among savages: men walking out of the elevator ahead of women, cell phone conversations in nice restaurants and other public places, the list goes on and on. And, my husband will be especially pleased to see your entry on standing and shaking a man’s hand when another man approaches the table (he was appalled when a man neglected to do this recently).

I enjoy watching old movies especially for this reason: everyone is so polite, even the villains! Old black and whites are my island of civility whenever modern society gets to be too much. What a great idea for a blog. All the best.
