CHARLESTON, SC- After five successful seasons designing Social Primer for Brooks Brothers,
founder of Social Primer—K. Cooper Ray—debuts his first solo collection of reversible bow ties and 2-tone long ties arriving in the best men’s shops now. The new collection features Cooper’s trademark reversible bow ties (suggested retail $75) in his signature color combinations that have been hailed as the perfect combination of preppy classic with a modern twist. In addition, this collection marks the debut of the new two-tone long tie (suggested $125) which is the next evolution of neckwear from the man who made bow ties relevant again. (GQ)
The debut collection is a classic offering of English Repp stripes combined with southern charm and eccentric go-to-hell flair. The collection is seasonless and will be available throughout the year as the signature classic SP offering. Named from the Greek alphabet — Alpha through Omega — the Social Primer by K. Cooper Ray collection was presented at a private men’s club during New York Fashion Week, providing the perfect setting for a faux fraternity rush party. The presentation featured top models representing various members of the SP Fraternity. Pennants hung on the clubhouse wall were made of the same repp tie fabric used in the collection, and copies of Cooper’s book, Pledge Rites: Code of Gentlemanly Behavior for Fraternity Pledges were given to guests.
“Ray’s dash of clashing patterns and colors combined with his tongue-in-cheek but oh-so-stylish thematic presentation-faux fraternity and all-make us think that once it reaches retail, the Social Primer by K. Cooper Ray collection is one pledge with the potential to rise to Big Man on Campus status.”- LA Times (Full review here)
