Southern men are known for their distinctive style. From the Charleston Dandy to the fraternity bro, there is something about a Southern man that sets him apart from his American cousins and makes him instantly recognizable where ever he may roam. Perhaps it’s Southern mothers who instill this at birth, but the local haberdasher has a little something to do with it as well. Herewith we celebrate the independent menswear faithful who have kept us looking good through the years.

Mobley & Sons in Birmingham, Alabama is definitely the best menswear store in the south. I have known the Mobley’s all my life and they are wonderful people. After Reggie founded the first store in Tuscaloosa, he actually went on to open two more successful stores in Birmingham and Memphis. He was kind enough to let his brother Chris take over the Tuscaloosa store, and then his father (Mr. Mobley) took over the store in Birmingham when Reggie moved to Memphis. Reggie’s son Hunt is now running the Birmingham store, and he’s done an amazing job of updating the store while making sure not to disturb the friendly ole small business atmosphere. If you like a large selection of quality men’s clothing with the customer service that department stores lack, then stop in Mobley & Sons next time you are in Birmingham.
