Rude! Is There an App for That?

0

Many of you have been asking, literally, dozens and dozens of you! Ha. But that will change. If we build it, you’ll definitely come. News. The Social Primer App is in development. Calm down. It’s going to be okay. Hyperventilation will only wear you out and not in a good way.

So as the gearheads begin to turn, they have a few questions from the designer on what we want in a useful app. What say you, dear readers?

1) Will the SP App be cross-platform for use with multiple devices (i.e. iPhone, iPad, and Android)?

2) Do you have a specific App in mind, perhaps a competitor’s or just an app you really like?

3) What will be the purpose of your App? Function or Entertainment (i.e. games, etc)?

Mosey on over to the SP facebook page or join the discussion here. What makes a great App in the Age of Rude?

  1. I like the idea of the role playing game to reinforce manners and style. The user could choose from a variety of scenarios and participants (party, in the city, with women, getting taxi) and either guess at the right answer or have the app tell them what to do. This should also be applied to drinks and clothing. Keep a running score until the user masters all aspects of being a gentleman in all scenarios. Then everyone wins!

Cross-functionality on a variety of devises is a must.

Thanks and keep up the great work,

  2. Dear SP,

I agree with the previous commenter that something of a “game” could be of use–even if it is a simple role-play designed to reinforce good manners in a variety of different situations, or a multiple choice quiz regarding dress-code, color pairing, and sartorial miscellanea. “Functional” and “Fun” do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Regarding your post, I personally would be most appreciative of an app with Blackberry functionality. I do eagerly await its release.

    Kindest Regards,

  3. I think it should definitely be cross-platform and have quick reference guides to dress, behavior, etc., like a mini version of the SP site. I also think having a color wheel would be beneficial when determining how to pair complementary colors. So often we men are too apprehensive to move beyond pairing blues with blues, etc., when there are so many combinations that could really set apart a look from the rest. If you want a game portion, how about having a character navigate tough social situations based on etiquette.
