05/19/2010 – Humility isn’t easy to come by on this site because I think a certain presence of swagger is called for when we talk about the things we talk about here. But there is no other word to describe what I felt when I walked into Brooks Brothers on Madison Avenue this past Wednesday night and saw this sight. Brooks Brothers. Madison Avenue. The mother ship. The Brooks team did an incredible job of turning the third floor into a throw-back men’s club for the event — well, maybe that’s not such a stretch since Brooks predates most clubs in this country — but from the waiters (in button-downs, bow ties and seersucker shorts) to the DJ (Andrew Bevan spinning beach music classics) the glory was definitely in the details. Mini lobster rolls? yes. Shrimp cocktail? yes. It was old-school country club all the way down to the trophies and loving cups. Good times. And good press the next day, raves even. Style.com, GQ.com and The New York Times all chimed in on the little bow ties that could.
Check out the edited sample of party pics below and here is the link to all of the photos from the big night at PatrickMcMullan.com. And the bow tie tour continues. Next stop? Charleston. Get on your shagging shoes.
