SP in NY

SP had a helluva time at the pop-up party hosted by Lulu de Kwiatkowski and David Cafiero at Cafiero Select in New York City last night.  There were old friends, new friends and more than a few readers who stopped by to say hello.  Many turned up in bow ties at the East Village shop and I could not help but wonder: Is prep the new punk?

Cafiero did us the great honor of turning his incredible shop into a salon and opening the doors and pouring the booze. He pulled rugs and furniture out onto the sidewalk,  threw up some nautical flags and all were welcome. It was quite interesting to see the expressions of New Yorkers hustling by on their way home, but the smiles on their faces told us they would forgive us for the interuption. Hell, a few even came in and joined the party. When most of the guest had departed, headed for home, dinner or other events, a few of us gathered on the sidewalk to recap the evening, which thanks to Cafiero resembled an English drawing room or yacht club.  Favorite moments: Scotch in Julep cups and the look on the  pizza delivery man’s face when he found us sitting in club chairs on the sidewalk, rugs, flags, silver cups and all.
