StylePrimer Series

After a few wardrobe malfunctions and ridiculously expensive forays into trends that were out of style in an embarrassingly short period of time, SP has returned to the long-held traditions of the classic men’s wardrobe. With that revelation, SP is introducing a new feature here on SocialPrimer called simply StylePrimer. The series will concentrate on the foundation of the well-dressed man’s wardrobe, a primer, if you will. SP is always concerned with the correct way to dress as appropriateness in style and clothing are elemental in the quest for success. As has been mentioned in these pages before, the basics of a man’s wardrobe are simple, so much so as to be considered boring or even mindless in choice and execution. Men can wear the same tried-and-true uniform every day of the week with little changes of shirt, tie or accessories and be considered well-dressed. SP recognizes and applauds those men who are able to enliven the seemingly mundane with a touch of daring and aplomb. That said, there are some elements found in the well-dressed man’s closet that are not negotiable. Time-honored traditions in dressing make building a respectable wardrobe easy; the value of the basics is indisputable. This fact should come as a great relief to all of us. The secret is that these articles of clothing must be made of the highest quality material and produced by the finest craftsmanship one can afford. Embrace this philosophy and there will be one less thing for you to worry about. Taking into consideration the seasons and the regions, SP will attempt to lay out the fundamentals of the gentleman’s wardrobe over a series of posts. SP lightly touched on this subject earlier in “The New Uniform” (blue blazer, white shirt, classic tie, dark jeans, a good shoe). The intention in embarking on the StylePrimer series is to concentrate in detail on one particular element of the wardrobe at a time.
