SP has a confession — and correction – to make. As the the tone of these pages has developed, the astute reader may have noticed that the pronouns are slipping all over the place. What started as an outlet of exasperated expression (and aggravation relief), SocialPrimer was almost always written in first person. Then as the audience grew, SP became a little alarmed by the increasing limelight and began to express his views behind the veil of the Royal We. SP felt that his (my) dictums would be better received if coming from an institutional We. And another occurance not to be discounted, SP (the narrator) has evolved into something of a character who makes pronouncements much more definitively than I (the writer) ever would. But alas, this affectation has become awkward and frankly, pretentious, which I never desire SocialPrimer to be. After an excruciating round of review, I have decided to go forward with the personal pronoun. Instead of back-tracking and correcting every post and replacing every We for an I, I’ve decided to make this declaration here and move on. SP is one person, not a commission or collective. Yes, I will continue to refer to SP in the third person — because I like the way SP thinks, more so than my own voice — but will use I instead of We when making an observation. Courage! (shouted into the air with a French accent.)
